A single rock sits low in the lower centre of a square frame, with a small dark twig or stick resting on top. Around it the shoreline water has been smoothed by a long exposure into pale, looping trails that curl past the stone and fade out toward both sides of the image.
Above a flat, distant horizon the clouds are streaked outward in long blurred bands, as if pulled from the centre of the sky. The whole photograph is toned in cool blue-grey, with soft misty water in the middle distance and only the rock showing a coarse, grainy texture.
