A tall white lighthouse with a black lantern room stands near the centre of the frame at the end of a low concrete breakwater. A huge wave has hit its left side and thrown a wall of white spray high up the tower, almost hiding the base and half the shaft.
The sea is dark green and choppy, streaked with whitecaps all the way to a flat horizon. Heavy cumulus cloud fills the upper half in grey, white and patches of blue. Dry golden grass blurs along the bottom edge, and the photograph feels sharp and stormy.
