A row of timber beach huts leans away from the camera along a pebbly shore. The nearest hut is red with white double doors, then a maroon-doored hut, a white one with a blue door, and smaller blue and green huts fading into soft focus. Their dark pitched roofs and worn weatherboards are sharp in the foreground.
Beyond the huts, a grey sea runs to a low, hazy headland with a pale tower on the far shore. Heavy purple-grey cloud fills the upper half, with a warm pink-cream break near the horizon. Weathered groynes step into the water on the right. The colours are muted and the scene is a photograph.
