A large pale whelk shell takes up the right half of this square image, its spiral tip pointing up and its open mouth showing a warm brown interior. A smaller shell with the same brown inside sits lower left of centre. Around them are a split pair of clam shells, a round moon snail shell seen from above, and a tiny snail shell hanging from a thin line at top right.
The background is made of vertical stripes in teal, sage green, sand and soft gold, separated by fine gold lines and brushed with a mottled, textured finish. A twisting ribbon of seaweed runs down the centre, with white coral-like sprigs laid over it. The palette is quiet and muted, with cream shells set against cool blue-green.
