A navy and white striped umbrella stands over a white timber beach chair on pale sand, set at the right of the frame. Clumps of dune grass in olive and straw green curl into the corners, and loose strokes of blue and cream mark the sand in the foreground.
Beyond the sand, three small sandpipers pick along the wet edge while a band of deep ultramarine water rolls in with white broken surf. A row of tiny white sails sits on the horizon under a soft sky of pale blue with warm yellow-tinged cloud. The look is of a loose, brushy painting.
