A narrow stone lane slopes downward between two rough walls, drawn in thick, textured brushwork. On the left a small pale house with a terracotta roof and chimney sits beside a black iron street lantern glowing amber. Pink and purple flowering shrubs gather at the bend, and a few red blooms spill over the stones at the lower left.
Past the gap the view opens to a hazy blue-grey mountain ridge above fields of striped rows. Warm afternoon light washes the lane in cream and soft lilac shadow, while olive-green foliage frames the top of the scene. The heavy stone pillar on the right shows visible, layered strokes that give the surface a tactile feel.
