About Sunset at Pilbara Region
A single low, wide-crowned tree stands slightly right of centre, its trunk splitting into crooked limbs that fan out in black silhouette against the last light. Behind it the horizon runs flat and unbroken, glowing amber and gold, with a small second tree far to the left for scale. Above, long streaks of cloud sweep across the frame in violet, mauve and smoky grey, undersides catching orange and pink. The foreground is red desert soil broken by clumps of spinifex and dry olive-green grass.
The character of the image is stillness and scale: one tree, one horizon, and a sky doing all the talking. Warm ground tones and cool cloud lift each other without either taking over.
Works over a sofa in a living room with tan leather, rattan or jarrah timber, and suits bedrooms with warm white or clay-toned walls.
