About Surfs Up I
A pastel watercolour beach scene fills the frame. At centre stands a small lifeguard hut with a mint green roof, coral pink railings and a hanging sign reading Beach More Worry Less. Two surfboards lean against its side, one striped green, one cream. A coral pink bicycle with a woven basket of flowers rests in the sand, a straw hat with a ribbon hooked over its handlebars. Palm trunks frame both edges and two mint Adirondack chairs sit on the sand at right.
Behind the hut a soft band of turquoise sea meets a pale sky brushed with loose white cloud. Washy watercolour edges, visible paper-grain texture and dry-brush strokes in the sand and fronds give the picture a light, unfussy feel. A coral palm frond floats in the upper right corner, echoing the pink of the hut. The mood is calm and summery, more quiet holiday afternoon than busy surf beach.
Suits beach house hallways, bathrooms, kids' and guest bedrooms, and relaxed living rooms with white walls, rattan and linen. It sits well above a bed head or a console with shells and candles, and pairs neatly with a second coastal print in the same pastel palette for a matched set.
