About Sweet and Sour
A fox faces forward and fills most of the frame, built from loose watercolour washes on a plain white ground. The two large triangular ears reach the top edge, edged in magenta and shaded with deep indigo inside. The muzzle and chest dissolve into soft blue-grey, while blooms of raspberry pink spread out to the left and right of the head like spilled colour. Fine dark lines mark the whiskers, the nose and the brow, and the pale blue eyes are the sharpest detail in the picture.
Colour pools, hard edges and dry-brush streaks are all visible, with the white of the paper left open through the chest and around the outer shape. The mood is calm and watchful rather than wild: a quiet animal portrait that reads as a colour study first and a fox second.
Works in a child's bedroom, a nursery or a teen room, and just as well above a hall console or a home office desk. The pink and violet suit white or pale grey walls, oak and rattan furniture, and linen bedding. Hang it alone, or pair it with other watercolour animals in matching frames. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
