A tall bouquet of roses fills the upper half of the portrait frame, in plum, mauve, lilac and soft blush pink. Dark green leaves tuck between the blooms, and a few olive and golden leaves curl out at the edges. A small pink bud sits at the right, and pale smaller flowers fill the gaps in the middle.
The bouquet sits in a cream china teacup with a curled handle, decorated with small pink flowers and green leaves. The background is a warm parchment beige with swirling, scumbled strokes, and the cup rests on a soft grey and cream shadow. The thick, visible brushwork gives it the look of an painting. A signature sits at the lower right.
