A tall portrait composition where the sky takes up about nine-tenths of the frame. Heavy cumulus clouds pile up in cream, warm grey and soft ochre, with a darker band of slate blue and muted purple pushing in across the upper right. Broad, visible brushstrokes sweep through the cloud and give it a thick, layered texture.
The horizon sits very low, where a narrow strip of pale land runs across the width of the canvas. Below it, the sea is a flat, deep teal with almost no detail. Hints of the same teal break through the clouds above and glow along the lower sky. The mood is quiet and unsettled, like weather building over still water. The image reads as an oil-style painting.
