A single long wave rolls across the middle of the frame, its face a dark bottle green fading to teal where the light comes through the water. The photograph is taken low to the surface, so the swell fills most of the picture and the horizon sits as a thin, soft line about a third of the way down.
Above the water the sky is a pale, hazy blue-grey with no clouds. In the foreground, rippled teal water leads to a band of white foam in the bottom right corner, where small bubbles and bright edges break up the smooth colour. The palette is cool, calm and muted.
