About The Blue Swirls I
Broad ribbon-like bands sweep across this square composition, looping over and under each other in long S-curves. Each band is built from fine parallel stripes: deep cobalt and mid sky blue beside chalky white and cream, with thin lines of olive, mustard and charcoal running along the edges. One wide white curve arcs from the upper left to the right edge, while a second loop turns back on itself in the lower half, leaving a soft open eye of pale blue at the centre left.
The surface reads as smooth and lightly streaked, the stripes drawn out in a single direction so the colour looks combed rather than blended. Overall the piece feels calm and fluid, with the strong cobalt lines giving it enough contrast to hold a wall on its own.
Works in a bedroom above the bedhead, in a bathroom or ensuite where the blue and white suits tiling, or in a beach house living room.
