Three red poppies sit side by side in a horizontal row, their heads cropped large so the petals fill most of the frame. The middle bloom faces us directly, with a ring of fine black stamens tipped in white around a dark centre. The flowers on each side overlap it and turn slightly away.
The petals are a deep crimson with visible brush ridges and ruffled, scalloped edges, shaded darker where they fold. Slim grey stems drop to the bottom edge. The background is a pale oatmeal tone with a woven, linen-like streaking, which keeps all the contrast on the red. A small signature sits in the lower right corner.
