A mastiff fills the square frame, head tilted to one side and looking up with pale green eyes. Thick black outlines trace the wrinkled brow, the heavy jowls and the large grey nose. The face is split into bright fields of colour, with blue across the left ear, a purple and magenta wash over the forehead and muzzle, and orange-red along the right ear and chin.
The background is a flat, saturated yellow that makes the dog stand out. Small details are scattered over the fur: stars in navy, red and grey, white and teal dots, short dashes, rectangles and a white starburst on the right ear. The look is pop art illustration with soft, watery colour blended inside hard black lines, and the dog's expression stays mournful and gentle.
