Three tulips stand across the frame in a row, each with cream-yellow petals that deepen to orange at the edges. The closed cups catch bright light, and a faint green shadow falls across the petals on the left bloom. Their shapes look slightly doubled, as if two exposures were laid over each other.
Behind them, a field of red tulips dissolves into soft focus, with touches of teal green at the top edge. The red is saturated and warm, so the yellow heads stand out against it. It reads as a photograph with a dreamy, layered finish, and the petals have a smooth, glossy surface.
