A watercolour still life fills the portrait frame. Magenta and pink tulips crowd the top left, their leaves in soft sage green. On the right, ruffled yellow daffodils spread across the upper half, with orange speckles near the edge. Long stems run down through glass vases, drawn with thin vertical lines.
Along the bottom, green and yellow-green apples sit in a loose group, some whole with brown stems and others cut open to show pale flesh and seeds. Washes of burgundy, orange, navy and violet bleed down behind them in drips and streaks. White paper shows through in places, giving the colours a light, translucent look.
