About Twist
Two long curved bars sweep across the width of the canvas and cross near the right edge, forming a pointed lens shape at the centre. The upper arc is built in ridged silver-grey paint with scratched horizontal grooves; the lower arc carries rust red and copper tones with small stamped circles pressed into the surface. A third shorter blade of pale olive and bone crosses them from the upper left. Behind it all sits a mottled ground of cream, sand and soft grey.
Thin white lines run vertically down the middle and right of the canvas like paint allowed to drip, breaking up the smooth background. Raised plaster-like texture catches light along both arcs, while the background is scraped thin and washed in places so darker grey shows through. The painting's character is quiet and sculptural, more like an excavated metal object than a picture.
Suits a long wall above a low sideboard, a sofa in a neutral lounge, or the end of a hallway. The silver, rust and cream sit well with stone, linen upholstery, oak or walnut timber and brushed metal lamps. Works in bedrooms and reception areas where a wide, calm piece is needed without strong colour. Browse more panoramic wall art, abstract oil paintings, silver and grey art.
