About Unrestrained Freedom
A dapple-grey horse fills the centre of the canvas, front legs lifted and folded mid-rear, hindquarters braced in loose pale sand. Its long black mane streams back off the crest of the neck and the dark tail sweeps low to the left, both catching the same breeze. The coat is painted in soft greys over white, with mottled shading across the shoulder, barrel and hindquarter. Behind it, low dunes fade into a chalky haze, and a thin band of cool blue sky sits along the top edge.
Fine sand lifts around the rear hooves in pale flecks, and a faint shadow pools under the body on the trodden ground. Brushwork is smooth and blended through the dunes and sky, tighter and more detailed in the head, ears and legs, with quick dark strokes for the mane and tail hair. The overall effect is a near-monochrome study of movement, restrained in colour but strong in gesture.
Suits a light, uncluttered wall: above a sofa in a white or grey living room, in an entry hall, or behind a desk in a home office. The near-monochrome palette pairs with pale timber, linen upholstery, concrete or black metal. Works well in rural and equestrian homes where the horse subject echoes the setting.
