About Vendetta
A single oversized face fills most of the canvas, tilted slightly and lit from the left, floating on a flat black ground with no setting or shoulders. The eyes are closed in narrow dark slits under heavy sweeping brows, and the mouth curves into a wide half-smile with a shadowed opening. Skin is built from layered colour rather than one tone: cream and pale gold across the forehead and nose, hot magenta and rose over the right cheek, teal and violet along the jaw and hairline.
Brushwork is thick and directional, with ridges of paint catching light along the nose, lip and cheekbone so the surface reads almost like carved wood or a painted mask. The character is calm but ambiguous, part serene and part sly, and the black surround makes the colour appear lit from within.
Works in rooms with dark or neutral walls where the black ground can disappear, such as a hallway, a study, or above a sideboard in a dining room. Pairs with charcoal, deep timber and brass, and suits interiors that already carry one strong statement piece rather than a group of small frames.
