A tall, slab-sided rock stack stands in the middle of the frame, rising out of calm water just left of centre. Dark, fractured boulders crowd both sides in the foreground, with a large cliff face climbing the right edge and a rounded mass of rock on the left.
The sky is streaked with long, soft bands of cloud that run from violet at the top to pink and a thin orange glow near the horizon. A long exposure has smoothed the sea into a pale, milky purple haze that curls between the rocks. Small dark rocks sit out on the horizon line. It is a photograph in cool, muted tones.
