A weathered white window frame with four panes fills the picture, and sheer curtains hang down both sides. Through the glass, two cream dresses with ruffled hems hang from a clothesline strung across the yard. The window sill at the bottom is chipped and worn, with flaking paint showing grey and pale green underneath.
Beyond the line, a green bush with small pink roses stands against a soft sky of pale blue and white cloud. A wooden chair with a slatted back sits on bare sandy ground at the lower left. The surface looks layered and textured, like a soft-focus photograph blended with faded plaster, in a muted palette of cream, sage, dusty pink and beige.
