About Whitsundays Heart Reef
An aerial view looks straight down onto a reef lagoon in the Whitsundays. A broad pool of clear turquoise water fills the centre, shading from pale aqua in the shallows to deeper blue-green where the sand drops away. Ringing it on three sides are winding coral ridges in sandy brown and olive, breaking into scalloped lobes and circular bommies. Near the middle sits the small heart-shaped coral cay, pale against the water, with two darker patches of reef floating above it.
The character here is calm and graphic: no horizon, no sky, just water and coral read as pattern. The photograph is sharp enough to show the grain of sand and the mottled texture across every coral shelf.
Suits beach houses, coastal bedrooms and living rooms where the palette already runs to white, linen and pale timber. It works above a bed or a low sideboard, and pairs well with rattan, jute rugs and other water or shoreline photographs. The strong turquoise also lifts a plain white home office or dining wall.
