A single wind-shaped tree with a broad, flat dark green canopy stands on the left of a low headland. Its trunk and branches are visible beneath the foliage, bent by constant sea wind. The tree sits against a pale, almost white sky, which gives it strong contrast and makes it the clear focal point of the scene.
The ground in front is covered in low succulent growth in rust red, orange, pink and olive green, running over pale weathered rock. On the right, the land drops to a calm grey-blue sea with a faint hazy shoreline in the distance. Soft grey cloud washes drift across the top, and the whole image has a loose, watercolour-like feel.
