About Witherblooms
Large open blossoms fill the canvas edge to edge against a mottled turquoise ground that has been scraped and dry-brushed so paler blue-green patches show through like weathered fabric. The biggest flower sits just right of centre, its six pale yellow petals brushed outward from a dense rust-brown centre speckled with tiny dots. Around it are a soft white bloom tinged with blue at upper left, cream flowers cropped by the frame at the right edge, and a buff-toned blossom low in the foreground. Olive and sage leaves branch between them on thin stems.
Brushwork is loose and layered, with petal strokes left visible and the blue background rubbed back rather than painted flat. The overall character is calm and airy: soft flowers held together by one strong colour contrast, cream and yellow against turquoise.
Suits bedrooms, guest rooms and hallways where the turquoise can pick up white bedlinen, rattan or limed timber. Works above a sideboard in a coastal or Hamptons-style living room, and pairs well with pale blue cushions, brass lamps and green indoor plants.
