Squares V | Grey Abstract Brushstroke Grid Canvas Wall Art Print

About Squares V

The artwork is built from twelve squares arranged in four rows of three, each tile holding its own cluster of ink-wash strokes. Some squares carry long sweeping curves that bend from one edge to the other; others hold tight stacks of horizontal lines, or short vertical marks that stop halfway down the tile. Tones run from near-black charcoal through mid and pale greys, all sitting on a soft off-white ground with a faint warm cast. The square edges are visible but uneven, with washed-out corners and dry, feathered ends.

Character comes from the contrast between the strict grid and the loose, watery marks inside it. It reads as calm and considered rather than energetic, with the grey washes giving a quiet, almost textile-like surface across the whole square.

Suits a living room above a low sideboard, a bedroom over the bedhead, or a home office where a quiet focal point is wanted. The greys sit easily with pale oak, linen upholstery, black metal frames and concrete or stone finishes. Works well as a matched pair with another square in the same series.
