About Arc De Triomphe at Paris
The Arc de Triomphe stands at the centre in thick golden yellow and ochre, its archway darkened to deep blue and green shadow. Rows of trees flank the avenue, built from short white, pale blue and cobalt dabs that read as blossom or snow-heavy branches, with violet and orange breaking through the sky above. The road sweeps forward in yellow, cream, coral and red reflections, carrying small cars in red, white, navy and silver towards the viewer, their headlights marked by bright flecks.
Colour is pushed well past realism: the sky is a dense weave of blue and purple, and the roadway glows as if lit from below. The overall character is busy and energetic, a familiar Paris landmark treated as a field of thick, broken colour rather than fine detail.
Works in a dining room above a sideboard, a home office, or a lounge wall that needs a strong colour anchor.
