About Arc de Triomphe Pop Art
The Arc de Triomphe fills the centre of the frame, photographed from a raised angle in greyscale so the carved relief panels, the arched openings and the sculpted figures on the piers stay sharp. Around it the Paris rooftops, the wet road in the foreground and the distant Eiffel Tower fade into pale washed-out grey. Bright magenta splatters land across the top of the arch and over the buildings at right, while navy and black ink clouds bleed across the upper left sky.
The mix of hard photographic detail and loose, dripping colour gives the piece a graphic, street-poster character. It reads as a modern city artwork rather than a travel photograph, energetic at a distance and detailed up close.
Works in a living room, home office or hallway where a clean grey and white scheme needs one shot of colour.
