About Amber River Currents
The canvas is built from long horizontal bands that run edge to edge, stacked from top to bottom like layers of current. Burnt orange cuts through the upper third and repeats in the centre and lower left, while ochre and mustard yellow fill the wider passages between. Slate grey and blue-grey streaks weave across the top corner and along the right side, softened where they meet olive and cream. Paint is thinly blended, with brush drag visible through the weave of the canvas and small scattered flecks of maroon.
There is no single focal point; the eye travels sideways along the bands, then down. The character is quiet and weathered, closer to layered rock or wind-blown water than to anything sharply drawn.
Suits a lounge room or hallway with timber floors, tan leather or linen upholstery. The portrait shape fits a narrow wall between doorways, above a sideboard, or in a stairwell. The orange and ochre bands lift white and warm grey walls, and sit well with brass lamps, jute rugs and terracotta pots. Browse more the Statton Collection, abstract oil paintings, earthy tones.

The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
