About Driftwood Falling Softly
A tall upright canvas holds roughly sixteen small rectangles scattered across the upper two thirds, each one painted to look like a weathered block of driftwood in rust brown, charcoal and bleached grey. They sit at slightly different angles and heights, clustered more densely in the centre and thinning towards the edges. Below and behind them, long vertical drips of cream, off-white, soft grey and faint blue-green run down to the base, as if paint has been poured and allowed to pull the colour of the blocks with it.
The surface is thick and worked, with ridges of palette-knife paint catching light across the pale ground and darker streaks bleeding from under several blocks. Its character is quiet and weathered rather than bold, a muted study in texture and vertical movement that reads as calm from across a room.
Suits a stairwell, entry wall or bedroom where the vertical format has room to breathe. The cream and grey palette sits easily with limestone tiles, oak floors, linen upholstery and woven rattan. Pairs well with timber furniture and warm brass lighting, and works in coastal, Japandi and quiet contemporary interiors without competing for attention.
