About Ridgeline to the Sea
The composition is split into a wide sky and a long ridge running from the bottom edge to the centre. The upper third is blue graded into pale cream at the horizon, with horizontal streaks of grey cloud and short yellow-gold flecks catching light just above the waterline. Below, a spine of land or breaking swell moves diagonally forward, painted in white, grey and warm rust with dark navy pockets on either side. Broad flat strokes smooth the sky, while the ridge carries thicker paint and scraped edges.
The mood is quiet and open, closer to a remembered coastline than a literal one. It reads as distance and weather rather than a specific place.
Suits a lounge room above a low sofa, a bedroom wall behind a bed head, or a hallway that needs depth. It sits well with pale timber, linen upholstery, white or grey walls, and sits comfortably beside navy cushions, woven rugs and brushed metal lamps. The larger sizes carry an open wall on their own.
