About Balloons Over Lemon Skies
A crowd of hot air balloons fills the square canvas, arranged in loose rows that overlap from the lower edge to the top. Each envelope is painted in vertical stripes of cobalt and pale blue, with some carrying olive green and soft teal panels and small square baskets hanging beneath on thin lines. The background is a washed lemon yellow, mottled and lightly scuffed so it reads like aged paper. Balloons at the edges are cropped, suggesting the flight continues beyond the frame.
Paint is applied thinly and evenly, with watercolour-like variation inside each stripe and quiet grey-blue ghosting on the more distant balloons. The effect is calm and cheerful rather than busy, a gentle pattern of repeated shapes held together by one warm colour.
Suits a child's bedroom, nursery or playroom, and works equally well in a hallway, breakfast nook or family room. The lemon background warms white and grey walls, while the blues pair with navy bedlinen, timber furniture, rattan baskets and pale jute rugs.
