About Seaglass and Amber Medley
Short vertical blocks of colour are stacked across a wide canvas, reading like a crowd or a shoreline seen through wet glass. Cool blues dominate the centre, flanked by deep teal and bottle green, with amber and mustard yellow strokes cutting through the upper half and lower right. Pale grey and off-white passages open up the edges and keep the middle from closing in. Small hits of red and rust appear low down. Flicks of white spatter scatter across the surface like sea spray.
The paint is dragged in flat, squared-off strokes with visible brush edges, some scraped back so earlier layers show through, others left thick and opaque. Thin drips run vertically where the wash has been allowed to bleed. It is a busy but calm painting, restful from a distance and full of small colour events up close.
The long horizontal shape suits a wall above a three-seater sofa, a sideboard in an entry hall, or the length of a dining room wall. The blue and teal sit well with grey linen, pale oak and rattan; the amber notes pick up brass lamps, tan leather and timber floors in coastal or relaxed contemporary rooms.
