About Harbourside Terraces
The canvas is built from short rectangular strokes stacked side by side, reading like terraces of buildings seen across water. The upper half is cooler and lighter, with soft grey-blue and white blocks broken by flecks of orange, apricot and pale yellow. A long horizontal band of white and grey runs across the middle, splitting the composition like a waterline. Below it the blocks deepen into strong cornflower and steel blue, edged with green, teal and small squares of mustard and red.
The paint sits in flat, loaded patches with visible edges where one block meets the next, so colours butt up rather than blend. Along the lower quarter a row of ochre and lilac marks gives the impression of a shoreline or jetty. It is a calm, orderly painting that keeps a sense of movement through its scattered warm accents.
Suits a long wall above a sofa, sideboard or bedhead where the panoramic shape can stretch out. The blue and white blocks work with grey linen upholstery, pale timber and white walls, while the orange and mustard flecks pick up brass lamps, tan leather or terracotta pots in open-plan living and dining rooms.
