About Cascade in Blue and Gold
Vertical bands of colour run from the top edge down through the centre of a portrait canvas, thinning out into drips and dry-brush streaks before they reach the bottom. The strongest column sits just left of centre in deep teal and cobalt, marked with small flecks of red and ochre. To the right a narrower band of turquoise and gold repeats the movement, while a slim strip of yellow-green and blue hugs the left edge. Everything else is an off-white ground, scraped thin so grey and pale blue show through.
Texture is built with a knife and a loaded brush, so the blues sit raised while the white field stays flat and dragged. The effect is quiet and watery, like colour running down a wall.
The tall shape works on a narrow wall between windows, in a stairwell, or above a hall console. The off-white ground keeps it light in a small bedroom or bathroom, while the teal and gold suit pale timber, linen upholstery and brass or black metal fittings.
