About African Royals III
A seated figure fills the centre of a paper collage, dressed in a deep red robe covered with rounded gold spots that spill across the lap and pool onto the floor. The face, hands and shoulders are cut from near-black paper, with a small red beaded cap and a narrow band of red, green and white at the neck. Behind the figure stands a gold ladder-back chair with open squares in its high back, drawn over a torn sheet of teal paper.
The floor is a strip of black and white harlequin diamonds with frayed edges, and the whole collage sits on plain white with its rough paper borders left visible. The character is calm and ceremonial: a still, upright pose built from flat colour, repeated pattern and torn paper edges rather than shading.
Suits a living room, hallway or bedroom with white or warm sand walls, and works in a home office or gentleman's room. Pairs naturally with the other African Royals prints as a set, and sits well with rattan, dark timber, woven baskets and kilim or mudcloth cushions in red, black and gold. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
