A grey timber wolf is shown in side profile, facing right, with its head turned slightly toward us. The amber eye is the sharpest point in the image, set under a dark brow line. The muzzle is pale cream and white, ending in a black nose, and the mouth is open just enough to show the pink tongue and a pale tooth.
The thick neck ruff is built from fine, layered strokes of grey, tan, rust and cream, with warm orange touches along the ear and shoulder. Behind the wolf, dark green pine needles blur into soft shadow, with a pale green glow behind the muzzle. The finish looks like detailed coloured pencil on paper, with visible directional strokes in the fur.
