Two or three slender trees stand close together at the centre of a square canvas. Their trunks are thin and dark, and the crowns are loose clusters of deep green and olive with pale lime highlights where light catches the leaves. The shapes are built from short, textured strokes rather than fine detail.
The sky and ground melt into warm amber, ochre and burnt orange, with a bright yellow-white glow breaking through on the right. Below the trunks the dark foreground reads as still water, with vertical streaks of reflection running down. The surface looks scraped and layered, with visible ridges and a worn, mottled texture.
