About Amsterdam City
A long cream tour boat with a glass roof and a red trim line cuts through dark slate-green canal water, throwing white wash along its stern. It rounds a curved brick quay on the right, where bicycles are parked in a row against the railing and bare winter trees rise over four and five storey Dutch gable houses. A yellow van sits at the kerb. On the left, black bollards edge a paved walkway beside a domed church tower, with a small canal bridge and crowds in the middle distance.
The mood is cool and overcast, the sky filled with layered grey and cream cloud lit faintly from behind. It reads as a quiet late-afternoon winter moment in a working city rather than a postcard scene.
