This portrait photograph looks straight up from the forest floor into a stand of tall aspen trees. The pale trunks rise from the bottom and sides and lean toward the centre, so they seem to fan outward and converge overhead. Several thick trunks cut diagonally across the right and left edges, with dark marks and bark texture visible on them.
The canopy is saturated autumn orange and amber, with leaves covering nearly every branch. Gaps between the foliage show a dark brownish sky, which makes the leaves look lit from within. A few dark green conifers sit at the top right and lower left corners. The wide-angle view gives a strong sense of height and depth.
