Three trees in autumn colour stand along the far bank of a pond. The tallest, left of centre, is a mass of crimson and orange strokes with a dark, branching trunk. A smaller green and yellow tree sits at the left edge, and a rust-orange tree rises at the right with a red shrub beneath it.
Rolling hills of mustard and olive green recede behind them under a pale blue sky with soft grey-white clouds. Small touches of lilac wildflowers dot the grassy bank. In the foreground the water is grey-blue with streaks of white, and rust reflections of the trees run down through it. The brushwork is thick and visible, in the manner of an oil-style landscape.
