A still river fills the lower half of this photograph, holding a near-perfect mirror image of the far bank. Along the right, a stand of poplars glows in orange and yellow, with a few green trees mixed in. A narrow strip of pale gravel and rust-coloured grass separates the trees from the water.
On the left, rugged mountains rise in purple and grey, their upper faces catching soft light. The sky is an intense blue-violet with one small cloud near the centre. The saturated colour and smooth water give the scene a calm, glassy feel, with the reflected orange streaking down into the dark blue water.
