About Balancing Stones
A long, weathered driftwood log runs diagonally from the lower right corner into the middle distance, its split, silvered grain catching warm light. Along its upper edge sits a row of small stone cairns, flat grey pebbles stacked four and five high in tight columns. Below the log, a shore of rounded beach stones fills the foreground in cool greys, browns and pale creams. Sea stacks rise on the right, and the ocean sits low and quiet behind them.
The sky carries the image: torn, heavy cloud lit gold and orange along its underside, with the sun low and diffused near the horizon. Cooler blue-grey cloud banks sit above. It is a still, patient photograph, built on the contrast between the cold stone shore and the burning sky.
Suits a living room above a low sofa, a bedroom behind the bedhead, or a home office wall that needs depth rather than colour noise.
