About Big Blue Chaos
A square canvas worked almost entirely in blues. Near the centre sit two or three suggested hulls, one washed in violet-grey, another crusted with thick pale blue and white paint, with thin dark lines rising from them like masts and rigging. Above, the sky breaks into scraped white and pale turquoise, with a hint of distant buildings or a jetty on the right. The lower third reads as water: horizontal drags of navy, teal and white with drips running down through them.
The paint is applied with a knife and dragged edge, leaving ridged crusts, scratched-through lines and bare flecks of lighter blue. It has the mood of a harbour seen through rain or spray, recognisable for a moment and then dissolving back into pure colour.
Suits a living room with grey, white or timber walls, a coastal-style bedroom, or a study wall above a desk. The 60 x 60cm works in a hallway or beside a window; 110cm and above holds a lounge feature wall. Pairs with linen upholstery, pale oak, brushed nickel and navy cushions.
