About Cockatiel Watercolour
A single cockatiel sits on a slim wooden dowel perch against an empty white background. The body is washed in slate and blue-grey, with deeper indigo pooling along the folded wing and the long tapering tail that drops well below the perch. The head is pale lemon yellow with a fine upswept crest of loose brush strokes, a round orange-red cheek patch and a small grey hooked beak. A band of white runs down the wing edge, and the bird's feet grip the dowel with fine brown lines.
The watercolour is loose and wet, with visible bleed where grey meets yellow and hard edges where the paint has dried at the wing tips. The character is quiet and observational, a simple bird study with plenty of white space around it.
Suits a nursery, child's bedroom or a hallway where the white ground keeps things light. Works in a home office above a desk, or in a living room paired with another bird study for a matching set.
