About Blue Dance I

A single open flower fills most of this square composition, its petals sweeping outward from a loose centre in washes of teal and blue-green. Some petals are pale and almost transparent, feathering into the off-white ground, while others are loaded with deeper pigment that pools into near-navy patches near the top of the bloom. Thin warm grey and brown marks run through the centre and trail down as a slender, slightly crooked stem toward the lower edge. Soft bleeds and dry-edged streaks are visible throughout.

The character is quick and fluid: one bloom caught mid-gesture, with plenty of empty white space around it so the colour reads clean rather than heavy. It sits between botanical study and abstraction, calm at a distance and loose up close.
