About Blue Pond
A wide sheet of cobalt and ultramarine water fills the left and centre, brushed in long horizontal strokes that lighten to pale grey-blue near a low, hazy shoreline at the top. Lily pads gather along the right and lower right in flat green discs, some bright yellow-green, some darkened to deep teal in shadow. White blooms with yellow centres sit among them, and a patch of burnt orange and red breaks the green near the middle right. Dark leafy branches hang in from the top edge.
Slim reed stems rise diagonally through the foreground, drawn in single confident lines. The paint sits thick on the pads and petals, thinner and smoother across the open water, so the surface shifts between flat calm and worked texture. The mood is still and cool, a quiet corner of a pond caught in flat daylight.
Suits a kitchen or dining wall where the cobalt blue can lift white cabinetry and timber benchtops. Works in a bathroom, hallway or bedroom with pale walls, and pairs with linen, rattan and brushed nickel. The green and white blooms sit well beside indoor plants and simple ceramics.
