About Boiling Point
A field of teal blue fills the canvas, worked with a dry, scraped surface that lets lighter and darker blues show through like rough plaster. Low in the centre stand three blunt shapes reading as vessels: a navy blue block on the left, a white form with a small lug handle in the middle, and sandy beige edges either side. Beneath them a broad sweep of chalky white runs across the canvas like a ledge or spill, softening into the blue at both ends.
Above the vessels a pale plume climbs and bends to the left, thinning into white and greying into steel blue where it folds over, with a drip of white running back down toward the jars. The character here is quiet and slightly austere: a simple still life dissolved into blue, more about texture and vapour than about objects.
Suits a calm bedroom, a bathroom with white tiles, or a hallway with pale walls where the teal can carry the room. Works with timber, linen and rattan, and with brass or chrome fittings. Hang it above a low sideboard or a freestanding bath, or pair it with plain white ceramics. Browse more blue art, abstract oil paintings, the Statton Collection.
