A night photograph taken from the curve of an ornate cast-iron bridge in New York's Central Park. In the foreground a pale stone urn on a pedestal holds evergreen sprigs, its base dusted with snow. The lacy, looped balustrade sweeps away to the right and leads the eye along a snow-covered path.
Across a frozen lake, orange and red lamp reflections streak the ice below a bare-treed shoreline. Apartment buildings rise beyond, including twin-towered Upper West Side blocks with glowing pinnacles. The sky is a deep plum-brown, bare branches frame the top left, and soft shadows fall across the snowy deck.
