About Brisbane City Hall

The photograph looks up at Brisbane City Hall from the corner of King George Square, so the sandstone facade runs diagonally across the frame. The square clock tower rises at the left of centre with two white clock faces catching the light, and below it a triangular pediment sits above a row of tall Corinthian columns. A second colonnade continues along the right side of the building, with arched windows and doorways in shadow at ground level. Small coloured flags hang between the columns in orange, red, green and yellow.

Blue sky with broken white cloud fills the upper half, and a line of palm trees and clipped hedges screens the footpath below. The character is bright, upright and civic, a clear daytime record of a familiar Brisbane landmark.
